Start Here: A Different Way to Build Real-Life Strength

Our small group and personal training takes you from where you are to how you dream of feeling: strong, confident, and capable.

This isn’t about perfect form, fitness trends, or keeping up.

It’s about learning how to move in a way that supports your life — with thoughtful coaching, clear options, and real humans who care about how you’re doing.

👉 Claim your Free First Class

You don’t have to be ready to begin

You don’t need to know which class to take, what level you’re at, or how this is all supposed to work.

Many of the people who train here started in the same place — curious, cautious, and juggling a lot of life. Work, family, stress, responsibilities… and the quiet sense that their health needed to matter again, too.

Some came from gyms or fitness franchises where they showed up consistently, but still felt unseen, unchallenged, or unsure if what they were doing actually fit them.

We believe strength is something you build with support, not something you have to earn before you walk through the door.

Wherever you’re starting from, there is a way forward and we’ll help you find it.

Not sure where to start? Talk with us.

This is how we help people build strength for real

We coach the people in the room — not a pre-set class

Sessions are adjusted in real time based on who’s there, how you’re moving, and what your body needs that day.

Progression matters more than levels

There’s no “beginner” or “advanced” track to keep up with. Strength, confidence, and capability build naturally through thoughtful coaching and progression inside the work.

Small groups mean real attention

Class sizes are intentionally capped so instructors can see you, guide you, and offer options that make sense for your body — not shout cues and hope for the best.

You’re here to be supported and challenged — not judged or compared

No mirrors. No pressure to perform. No pretending you’re comfortable when you’re not.

Everything we do is meant to support your life outside the studio

Balance, strength, coordination, and confidence that show up in everyday moments — not just during class.

You don’t have to know what you need yet. You just need a place that knows how to help you find it.

Starting Points

(Why you’re here and how that often shows up in class)

You don’t need to know which class is “right.”

You just need a starting point that reflects why you’re here right now.

Most people come to Surviving Strong for one (or more) of these reasons:

Move With Confidence

You want to feel safer, steadier, and more capable in your body  without rushing or guessing.

  • You value guidance, feedback, and thoughtful progression
  • You want to build control, awareness, and trust in how you move
  • You care about moving well, not just getting through a workout

A great starting class might be:
Pilates – Mobility & Flexibility
Strength, Mobility & Balance

These sessions emphasize intentional movement, coaching, and options so you can build confidence at a pace that makes sense for you.

Build Strength for Real Life

You want strength that shows up outside the studio — in everyday moments that actually matter.

  • You want to feel stronger doing daily tasks, not just exercises
  • Balance, coordination, and resilience are priorities
  • You’re thinking long-term health, not quick wins

A great starting class might be:
Strength Over Stress
Strength, Mobility & Balance

These classes focus on functional strength and stability, the kind that supports your life.

Movement You Stick With

You want movement to feel engaging, sustainable, and something you actually look forward to.

  • You’re motivated by variety, energy, and enjoyment
  • You want consistency without pressure or burnout
  • You know that if movement feels good, you’re more likely to keep showing up

A great starting class might be:
Aerial Fitness
Bounce & Balance

These sessions bring energy, playfulness, and variety while still offering real coaching and thoughtful options.

A Quick Reassurance (Important)

Your starting point isn’t permanent.

You’re not locked into one type of class or path.

As your confidence, strength, and goals evolve, your classes can evolve too — and your coach will help guide that along the way.

If you’re unsure where to begin, we’ll help you before and during your first visit.

What to Expect in Your First Class

Starting something new can feel uncertain.
Will you fit in? Will you know what to do? Will you be able to keep up?

That’s exactly why we don’t wait until you walk through the door to support you.

Whenever possible, we’ll connect with you before your first class to learn about your goals, past injuries, or anything else that matters. That way, you can arrive knowing your coach already has context — and you don’t have to explain yourself in front of a group.

Here’s what you can expect when you arrive:

A genuine welcome.
You’ll be greeted by name and helped get settled. Chances are, another member will say hello too — we all remember what it felt like to start.

A brief personal check-in.
We plan sessions around who’s signed up, and we’ll also check in when you arrive. Life happens. We adapt as needed so the work makes sense for you that day.

Coaching that meets you where you are.
Every movement has options. You’ll be coached, guided, and adjusted in real time so you can move with confidence — not comparison.

A real class with real people.
No watered-down demos. No awkward sales pitch. Just a full session with thoughtful coaching and support. If you love it, we’ll talk next steps — only if you’re interested.

A community that wants you to succeed.

No mirrors. No egos. Just people showing up, doing the work, and cheering each other on.

No pressure. No hype. We’ll meet you where you are.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Hello@SurvivingStrong.org or call/text us at 215-944-4440if you cannot find an answer to your question.

No. Experience is not a requirement here.

Most people who come to Surviving Strong aren’t “fitness people.” They’re people who want to feel stronger, more confident, and more capable — often after trying other things that didn’t quite stick.

Every class is coached in real time, with options and adjustments built in. You’ll be guided through what to do and how to do it in a way that makes sense for your body.

You don’t need to be ready.
You just need to show up.

That’s normal and honestly expected.

Starting something new can feel intimidating, especially if past experiences made you feel out of place or unseen. Our job is to make sure you feel welcomed, supported, and capable from the moment you walk in.

You won’t be put on the spot.
You won’t be asked to perform.

And you won’t be doing this alone.

We’ll meet you where you are and take it one step at a time.

Take a look around. Every photo on our website and social media is of real members, not stock models or fitness influencers.

Our community includes people in their 20s through their 80s, all focused on the same thing: building strength, resilience, and confidence that actually carries into real life.

We’re not about vanity metrics, quick fixes, or “perfect bodies.” We’re about helping you feel stronger, move better, and handle whatever life throws your way — with coaching, support, and intention.

If that sounds like what you’re looking for, you’ll likely feel right at home here.

And if you’re not sure yet? That’s okay too.

That’s exactly why we offer a free class — so you can experience how we work before deciding anything. And if you’d rather talk it through first, let’s chat. Yes, with a real human not a bot.

We’re not here to convince you.
We’re here to help you find what actually works for you.

All of our sessions are small-group training — so you get the energy of a group and the attention of personal coaching.

  • Pilates classes are capped at 6 people.
  • Strength and other sessions are capped at 8.

That’s intentional.

We’re surrounded by studios that call 12–14 people “small.” That’s not how we work.

Smaller groups mean we can actually watch your form, offer real-time adjustments, and coach you as a person — not just count reps.

It also means we know your name, your goals, and what you’re working on -- not just the choreography of the class you signed up for.

Yes and more importantly, they’re experienced coaches who know how to work with real people.

Between us, our team has decades of experience helping people move safely and build strength. Some of our coaches hold advanced certifications — including our owner, who is one of the few Nationally Certified Pilates Teachers in the region.

Every coach here is trained to adapt sessions for different ages, abilities, and starting points, so you’re never expected to “keep up” or figure things out on your own.

Bottom line: you’ll be guided by someone who knows what they’re doing, cares about your progress, and will challenge you thoughtfully while keeping you safe.

Wear whatever you can move in comfortably, no need for fancy gear or matching outfits.

  • For Pilates and aerial classes: barefoot or grippy socks.
  • For strength and cardio: regular sneakers work great.

Bring a water bottle (we have a filling station right here).

We provide the equipment.

Just bring yourself and a willingness to try.

If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out — a real human will answer.

Let’s be clear: you’re joining a real, regular class, not a demo or intro session.

You’ll experience exactly how we coach, how the class flows, and what it actually feels like to move here.

If you love it (and most people do), we’ll walk you through our intro offer: 3 sessions for the cost of 2. It’s simply an easy way to keep going, build momentum, and get a true feel for how we work and how this can fit into your schedule.

There’s no pressure and no hard sell. We’ll answer your questions, talk through options if you want, and let you decide what makes sense for you.

We believe people deserve transparency without pressure.

Our pricing reflects small group sizes, real coaching, and individualized attention — not crowded rooms or one-size-fits-all workouts.

Rather than squeezing pricing into a box here, we’ve laid it out a sampling of our option clearly on our pricing page so you can review it when you’re ready.

If you have questions, we’re always happy to talk it through.

Absolutely.

Some people prefer one-on-one support, especially when they’re getting started or working through specific goals. Personal training is available and can be a great way to build confidence before (or instead of) joining group sessions.

If you’re unsure what makes the most sense for you, let’s talk it through together.
